Manchester United: Cristiano Ronaldo away in January, partly because of Messi
CR7 wants to become a millennial before the Flea
There has always been a great rivalry between CR7 and Messi. The two, for more than a decade, have competed against each other in goals and awards. Now, also at stake is 1,000 career goals. Below in the Golden Ball tally (two more for the Argentine), the Portuguese wants to reach 1,000 career goals before his sworn sporting foe.
At the moment, CR7 stands at 816 total goals, some 30 more than the Pulce, who, in a PSG jersey, continues to play and score. The former Juventus man, on the other hand, is often on the bench at Manchester United, so much so that he has scored only one goal this season. Incredible for someone who often goes over 30 goals a single season. Hence the real possibility that Cristiano Ronaldo, in January, will say enough and go elsewhere to return to the game and keep behind his eternal rival Messi in the race to 1000 goals.
