Champions League Women 2025-2026: Roma-Barcelona, the likely lineups

After the bitter debut on the field of Real Madrid (6-2 the final score for the Merengues), the Roma women return to face the Champions League on the wings of the enthusiasm for the championship success against AC Milan (2-1): in front of the girls led by Luca Rossettini, however, there is another opponent of absolute value, Barcelona, which last year missed the championship-cup-Champions Triplete only in the European final lost to Arsenal 1-0.

The Giallorossi are ready to line up at the ‘Tre Fontane’ in Rome (kickoff at 9 p.m.) with a shrewd set-up: a four-man defense composed of triplets Bergamaschi and Veje and central midfielders Heatley and Valdezate, Manuela Giugliano acting as a screen before the midfield line. In attack trust the Canadian Viens, who scored against Real as well as, last Sept. 23, in the derby valid for the semifinal of the Serie A Cup Women.

On the other side there&#8217s a real battleship: coached by Pere Romeu, the Barcelona girls won 7-1 against Bayern on the first day of the Champions League and beat Atletico Madrid in the league with a resounding 6-0 away. Lots of champions on the field, above all the three-time Ballon d’Oro winner Aitana Bonmatí. Also watch out for Ewa Pajor, three times on target in the last two matches played by the Blaugrana.

Probable lineups

ROME (4-1-4-1): Baldi; Bergamaschi, Heatley, Valdezate, Veje; Giugliano; Corelli, Pandini, Dragoni, Pilgrim; Viens. All. Rossettini.

BARCELONA (4-3-3): Coll; Batlle, Paredes, Mapi Leon, Brugts; Bonmatí, Guijarro, Putellas; Hansen, Pajor, Pina. All. Romeu.
