Track Cycling World Championships 2025, Italy's call-ups: confirmed absences of Filippo Ganna and Jonathan Milan

There will be 19 in total, 13 men and 6 women, the athletes who will represent Italy in the 2025 Track Cycling World Championships, scheduled at the PeƱalolen Velodrome in Santiago, Chile, from Wednesday, Oct. 22 to Sunday, Oct. 26. Illustrious absences are confirmed: Filippo Ganna and Jonathan Milan, multiple champions at the rainbow level, will not be part of the Azzurri team, which will nonetheless be able to count on high-level cyclists.
The Italian team will be able to count on the top cyclists.
Technicians Diego Bragato, Ivan Quaranta, Edoardo Salvoldi and Marco Villa have summoned for the women’s team Martina Alzini (Centro Sportivo Esercito), Chiara Consonni (G.S. Fiamme Azzurre), Martina Fidanza (G.S. Fiamme Oro), Vittoria Guazzini (G.S. Fiamme Oro), Miriam Vece (G.S. Fiamme Oro) and Federica Venturelli (UAE Development Team).
The men who will wear the blue uniform instead will be Matteo Bianchi (Centro Sportivo Esercito), Davide Boscaro (G.S. Fiamme Azzurre), Renato Favero (Soudal Quick-Step Devo Team), Luca Giaimi (UAE Team Emirates Gen Z), Etienne Grimod (Biesse-Carrera-Premac), Francesco Lamon (G.S. Fiamme Azzurre), Stefano Antonio Minuta (G.S. Fiamme Oro), Stefano Moro (G.S. Fiamme Azzurre), Daniele Napolitano (MBHBank Ballan CSB Colpack), Mattia Predomo (Centro Sportivo Esercito), Juan David Sierra (Tudor Pro Cycling Team U23), Davide Stella (UAE Team Emirates Gen Z) and Elia Viviani (Lotto).
There will be eleven total disciplines, with men and women competing in each. In the 2024 edition of the World Championships held in Ballerup, Denmark, Italy brought home one gold medal (Jonathan Milan in the individual pursuit), two silver medals (Simone Consonni in the individual pursuit;Omnium and Elia Viviani in the elimination) and one bronze (Letizia Paternoster, Chiara Consonni, Martina Alzini and Vittoria Guazzini, with Martina Fidanza as reserve, in the women’s team pursuit).
