Lorenzo Musetti, winning debut in Brussels: he is in the quarters

Winning debut for Lorenzo Musetti at the Brussels ATP 250. The Carrara native, world number 8 and seeded leader, defeated Yannick Hanfmann, world number 139, in two hard-fought sets (7-6 7-5) after an hour and 37 minutes of play.

In the first set it was the serve that dominated with both players not conceding even the’shadow of a break ball. It thus comes down to the tie-break, dominated by the Blue who wins it 7 points to 3, making the first partial his.

The second set also saw the service starring but, on the verge of a new tie-break, Lorenzo took advantage of the only break ball of the match, scratching the break in the 11th game. The Tuscan then closed the score on serve at the first match point (7-5).

Thanks to this victory, Musetti flies to the quarterfinals of the ‘BNP Paribas Fortis European Open’: awaiting him is Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, number 5 in the seeding and 37 in the ATP rankings, already defeated at the Beijing ATP 500 and the Us Open by the Carrara native.
