Italy for World Cup opening in Sölden

The 60th edition of the Alpine Ski World Cup opens next weekend with the now traditional giant slaloms in Sölden on the Austrian Rettenbach glacier.
On Saturday 25 there will be the women’s giant slalom and Italy will field nine athletes: Marta Bassino, Giorgia Collomb, Lara Della Mea, Ilaria Ghisalberti, Sofia Goggia, Elisa Platino, Laura Steinmair, Giulia Valleriani and Asja Zenere.
Of course, Federica Brignone, the crystal ball holder, is absent due to a serious knee injury in early April. Returning to the Circo Rosa instead are Steinmair and Valleriani, who are competing for the first time on the Tyrolean track.
Sunday 26 will be the men’s turn, and there are six Azzurri on the track: Giovanni Borsotti, Luca De Aliprandini, Filippo Della Vite, Giovanni Franzoni, Tobias Kastlunger and Alex Vinatzer.
