Fabio Capello in the Gazzetta dello Sport spoke about the disappointing draws of Juverntus and Napoli in the Champions League: “One thing I think Conte and Spalletti’s teams had in common yesterday, besides the final result: they both dropped in intensity and dangerousness in the second half”.

The’former coach also reveals the reason: “My explanation is the usual one: in the Champions League you run at a different pace, the referees whistle less and you don&#8217t have time to rest. The Italians are not used to it, or at least not all of them, so they suffer.”

“Yet Napoli dominated, especially in the first 45 minutes, with the Germans rather defensive. However, the Azzurri created too little in my opinion, giving the impression that they were always a bit timid in their plays”.

“What was lacking? Certainly some quality. These are the classic matches where having or not having Kevin De Bruyne makes all the difference in the world. And yesterday Conte did not have the Belgian star player. Eintracht was able to contain the hosts’ attacks and came out a bit in the second half, with Milinkovic even having to get his gloves dirty to avoid defeat. Okay, the most important chance to win fell to Napoli, but McTominay was strangely less accurate than usual. So the Germans, who in their last two Champions League games against Atletico Madrid and Liverpool had cashed in a whopping ten goals, came out of the Maradona without conceding a single goal and with a point. It is impressive as a figure, beyond all talk”.
