This first part of the season can be called positive for Massimiliano Allegri&#8217s AC Milan: the team is first in the standings along with Italian champions Napoli thanks to the 31 points collected in the first 14 days. The only negative note is the elimination from the Coppa Italia, which occurred in the round of 16 against Lazio at the hands of Mattia Zaccagni in early December. Among the signings made in the summer stands out Luka Modric, author so far of top performances that have allowed him to already become an idol for the Rossoneri people, decidedly less positive instead the performance of Pervis Estupiñán.

In late July, the Ecuadorian full-back left Brighton to move to Milan after the Diavolo shelled out 17 million euros. The player was coming off a very positive season with the English club and his move to the Rossoneri generated great expectations among fans, who, however, soon had to recant. Complicated by some muscle problems, Pervis Estupiñán failed to play consistently and, when called upon, did not always respond positively. An example of this was the last Coppa Italia challenge against Lazio: Massimiliano Allegri decided to give him confidence by deploying him as a starter but the Biancocelesti strikers skipped him with great ease throughout the match.

According to the latest rumors, the Milan and Pervis Estupiñán trades may already part in the summer and the Rossoneri are already looking for an’alternative. On Igli Tare’s list are mainly two names: Vitaliy Mykolenko and Ferland Mendy. The Ukrainian from Everton is on contract expiration and talks with the Toffees stalled months ago: he will most likely leave the club for free in the summer and Milan does not want to miss the opportunity. Mendy is playing very little because of injuries but still seems out of the future plans of Real Madrid, which is determined to revolutionize the squad in the summer.

Accordingly, Milan has set its sights on the two full-backs and will move in the summer to sign a viable alternative to Davide Bartesaghi, who is nonetheless performing well in the Rossoneri shirt. Born in 2005, the full-back started playing for the first team in the 2023/2024 season and for two years alternated between Milan Futuro and ‘the big boys’ then this season Massimiliano Allegri decided to give him great confidence and the youngster is repaying him with solid performances.

This season Davide Bartesaghi has already collected 2 appearances in the Coppa Italia (topped by an assist) and 10 in the league. Clearly he cannot be compared to Theo Hernandez but, when Strahinja Pavlović ventures into the offensive phase, the youngster is always on time in coverage. He definitely still has much to improve but he is on the right track.
