L’former Honda team manager Livio Suppo in an interview with GpOne spoke about Marc Marquez and rumors of a possible return to Honda in 2027, when his contract with Ducati expires. Suppo also gives the Catalan rider’s return to the Japanese manufacturer as possible: “Right now he doesn’t know his future either. First, everything will depend on recovery from the injury. Marc must understand if his physique can return to 100 percent, the one that allowed him to dominate the world championship”.

“So many aspects come into play, but if I know Marquez a little, the idea of returning to the old team would please him a lot – continued Suppo, who stressed the Japanese team’s special bond with the nine-time world champion centaur.”

He has remained attached to them, he has spent the longest phase of his career with Honda, and I would not be surprised by his return. However, it’s too early to talk about it. Doesn’t he have time? Someone like him, he can wait as long as he wants”. Suppo also talked about Pecco Bagnaia, back from a 2025 really to forget.

.

“Pecco is a very strong rider…who should take a course in communication…” joked Bagnaia. “So many times this year he has said things that have created a lot of theories, conspiracies. Sometimes, when he talks, he is a bit too cryptic and gives people the opportunity to interpret his words in many ways. From a romantic point of view, it is clear that he would like to stay because he has been in love since childhood with Ducati, then we will have to see what happens”. Bagnaia clearly lost the confrontation with Marquez, finishing fifth overall.

.

For the Piedmontese rider, too, his contract expires at the end of 2026: “If a House would pull the wool over his eyes, offer him a great signing and he still struggles next year, why should he stay? There are a lot of variables”, explained the’former HRC Honda team manager, who did not elaborate on the role of the Japanese houses in the rider market.

“Because of their size, they are the houses that can afford to pay pilots so much, as has always been the case. As fans it will be fun and interesting to see if they will play a decisive role in the market, I hope that there will be some changes in the house because this always creates interest”.
