Ettore Messina analyzes the surprising knockout
Ettore Messina looks for the causes of the knockout
Ettore Messina, the coach of Olimpia Milano, knows that his team can do much better. After all, the home loss in the Euroleague to Alba Berlin was certainly not in the budget.
“My team seems to me to be contracted and there is no reason to be. I have to find ways to make my players feel good, we will work to improve. I have to help them, it’s my responsibility,” says the red and white helmsman.
“Congratulations to Alba for the win. But between us there was little communication on defense. On offense we created good shots but we didn’t make a basket,” Messina adds.
Last season, Ettore Messina’s team returned to win the Scudetto, snatching it from Virtus Segafredo Bologna’s jerseys. The red-and-whites, who had finished second right behind Sergio Scariolo’s team in the regular season, immediately brought the court factor to their side in the final series and never let the Felsinians catch them again. In the Euroleague, Sergio Rodriguez (who said goodbye to the Red Shoes in the summer to return to Spain) and his teammates were eliminated by Ergin Ataman’s Anadolu Efes, who would win the tournament for the second year in a row.
