Jorge Martin has returned to the operating room to permanently resolve the physical problems, left hand and right shoulder, that plagued him in 2025, a true annus horribilis for the world champion of the 2024 season: this was revealed by the Spanish version of the portal ‘Motorsport’ which points out that the operations had been planned for some time and are a necessary step to speed up recovery and ensure that the centaur from Madrid will be competitive for the start of the new season.

At the official Aprilia presentation, Jorge Martin had made it clear that he wanted to start with the knowledge that he could compete for race wins once he was back to 100 percent fitness. The fourteen Grands Prix missed last year, bad crashes and rumors of an immediate farewell to the Noale-based manufacturer had strongly conditioned 2025: the Madrid-based rider, for all these reasons, preferred to put a period and start over, giving top priority to rehabilitation to try to return to the leading role in MotoGp.

Lorenzo Savadori confirmed as official test rider after contribution to RS-GP development.
The'goal is to improve on the 2025 season, the most successful season ever with second place Constructors and 418 points.
In 2025 Aprilia achieved 19 podiums, 7 total victories and 5 pole positions equaling the previous record.
The House of Noale reached 302 victories, confirming itself as the most successful European manufacturer in the Motomondiale.
The RS-GP26 features improvements in aerodynamics, cycling, electronics and V4 engine developed by Noale's technical department.
It will be the fastest prototype ever built by Aprilia, the last evolution before the new technical regulation 2027.

The Trackhouse project with Fernández and Ogura continues as a strategic partner for the development of the RS-GP.

Before the start of last season Martín had had to deal with an injured hand after a crash in Sepang testing, a problem that caused him to miss several races in the first part of the season. Instead, the collarbone knockout would come later in the Sprint in Japan. On top of that, there had been no shortage of other unfortunate incidents, such as the crash in Qatar with Di Giannantonio: with so little continuity, his 2025 championship never found a rhythm, and fourth place at Balaton Park was a drop in the bucket.

The 2026 pre-season is off to a better start but will still be a race against time.

Martin is aiming to show up for the start in Buriram, Thailand, in perfect condition, but doubt remains about his presence at the Sepang test taking place Feb. 3-5. Everything will depend on his recovery time and feelings in the coming days.

If he were to miss the test session, the focus would become the next one, scheduled for Feb. 21 and 22 precisely in Buriram, the last chance to regain pace before the World Championship. Jorge Martin is well aware that his new path has already begun and that the daily work will be decisive to get back to competitiveness right away.
