Hellas Verona has exonerated Paolo Zanetti: name in pole for successor

Paolo Zanetti is no longer the coach of Hellas Verona. The Scaligeri club announced the coach’s dismissal after the Gialloblu’s heavy defeat against Cagliari, a peremptory 4-0 that was the culmination of the Scaligeri’s latest complicated period, dry of victories for a month and a half now. Verona is last on 14 points tied with Pisa, which, like the Venetians, has changed its coach, exonerating Alberto Gilardino.
“Hellas Verona FC announces that it has relieved Paolo Zanetti of his post as coach of the first team. The Gialloblù club thanks coach Zanetti and his staff for their work over the past season and a half and wishes them the best in the continuation of their professional careers. Today’s training will be directed by Primavera coach Paolo Sammarco” is the statement from the Gialloblu club.
The decision was pre-announced in a press conference by sporting director Sean Sogliano: “Normal there are evaluations. Because when things go wrong, the coach is the main role. But he knows that as well. This is the second year that we are together. Let us not forget that Verona in these last four years has been saved once on the last day, once in the play-off and once in the penultimate. So we know that in these four years we have gone through many bad times”.
“The coach is in crisis. Like everyone, like me, like the players. But it is normal that at this moment we have to understand whether we are able to get back up or not. Today is not so much the time to talk. Right I came. It would not make sense if a player or a coach had come. Right now I don’t find it useful. So, now we go home with zero points, in a difficult moment and think how to react”.
“Possible replacements include the names of Roberto D’Aversa, currently favored, and Luca Gotti, who has been without a team since 2024 after his farewell to Lecce“.
