Milan Cortina 2026, Lucia Dalmasso bronze in snowboarding

After Sofia Goggia’s downhill on the Tofane Olympia, comes another bronze medal for Italy in the Milan Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics. Twenty-four years after’the last time, Lucia Dalmasso brings Italy back to the Olympic podium in the parallel giant: the Italian board returns to the Olympia of snowboarding and does so in Livigno, with Dalmasso preceding in the challenge for third place the other Bellunese Elisa Caffont.

After her six World Cup victories, the last just under a month ago, the 28-year-old from Falcade is giving herself the first medal of her career by overtaking Caffont in an all-Italian duel for the lowest step on the podium. The Milan Cortina 2026 Olympic title goes to Czech Zuzana Maderova, who makes up for the bad day of her most-anticipated compatriot Ester Ledecka by overcoming Austrian Sabine Payer in the final.

Dalmasso had defeated another Italian ’Jasmin Coratti – Jasmin Coratti – in the round of 16: in the quarters the Italian got the better of Aleksandra Krol-Walas of Poland, while in the semifinals it was Payer who deserved access to the challenge for gold. Caffont makes her masterpiece in the quarters, overcoming Japan’s Tsubaki Miki after beating Switzerland’s Zogg in the first round; the semifinal with Maderova offers the Bellunese the red light, leading her to the bronze medal duel with Dalmasso.

In contrast, the Italian path in the men’s event stops in the quarterfinals. The dominators of the World Cup season have to give way, with Aaron March and Maurizio Bormolini out in the round of 16 against Mastnak and Karl, respectively, while Roland Fischnaller exits in the quarters against Kim and Felicetti succumbs to the same Mastnak. It was Karl himself in the finals who got the better of Kim, while Mastnak and Bulgaria’s Zamfirov tied for the bronze medal.
