Hansi Flick’s Barcelona is currently one of the best teams in Europe, both in terms of play and results. The Blaugrana are leading the La Liga standings, averaging three goals scored per game, and have qualified directly for the Champions League round of 16. After last season&#8217s league-cup double, title hopes are very high again this year. But from Spain come surprising rumors about the German coach&#8217s future.

According to reports in the daily Marca, Flick does not rule out leaving Barcelona at the end of the season if Victor Font wins the presidential elections in March. Font is considered the biggest challenger to Joan Laporta, the incumbent president, and if he is elected he would fire current sporting director Deco.

A measure that would not please Flick at all, who in multiple interviews has openly praised the work of the Portuguese executive, explaining how important it is for Barcelona: “We trust each other, we believe in each other, and this is very positive. I have never experienced anything like this before, we are looking for the same players because we share the same philosophy”.

Deco’s farewell could thus push Flick to leave Barcelona, despite Fuente&#8217s reassurances that should he be elected he would instead be ready to confirm the German coach.

Flick, who has one year left on his contract with Barcelona, also expressed support for current president Laporta: “I am very happy to work for this club. The president is the reason I am here. We will see what happens in the presidential elections. It is great for me to be here for another year and a half, but these things also depend on the president”.
