During the presentation of the 2026 season in Kuala Lumpur, Marc Marquez had explained that the riders were simply commenting on market rumors for 2027, with no firm information. However, MotoGp’s official social media account published a post in which the reigning world champion amused himself by simulating the grid for the upcoming season, ultimately choosing to exclude himself among the riders, displacing fans.

The post shows the reigning world champion having fun simulating the grid for next season, ultimately choosing to exclude himself among the riders, displacing fans.

In the post we see a metal board with the eleven MotoGp teams and more than twenty magnets with the faces of the riders, both veterans and younger. Marc starts putting riders one at a time: Fermin Aldeguer at Gresini Racing, Johann Zarco at Team LCR, Marco Bezzecchi at Aprilia, and Maverick Viñales at KTM. However, there is no shortage of moments of indecision and small changes, as in the case of Toprak Razgatlioglu, moved to the official Yamaha team.

The most curious part concerns Ducati: Marc puts his brother Alex on the factory team along with Pecco Bagnaia, while moving Pedro Acosta to Honda. Other moves include Luca Marini to VR46 with Celestino Vietti as his partner, Ai Ogura to Trackhouse along with Raul Fernández, and Jack Miller to Pramac with Alex Rins. Finally, Fabio Quartararo assigns him to Aprilia, Joan Mir to Yamaha and Brad Binder to the official KTM.

In the end, four riders remain off the 2027 grid: the 2024 world champion Jorge Martin, Fabio Di Giannantonio, Franco Morbidelli, and Marc Marquez himself. When asked if he will spend it on vacation in 2027, the champion replied, “Maybe, you never know” leaving everything open.

Marquez, after the ninth World Championship won without any particular difficulty in a dominated 2025, in which he could also afford to skip the last races due to injury without taking any risks at the standings level, has not yet clarified what his future will be and the “game” to which he has lent himself to the official MotoGp channels fuels doubts. Only the coming months will make it clear whether his “self-exclusion” is merely goliardic or the result of real thinking.
