Between Leon Goretzka and Milan there's a big obstacle

In recent weeks Leon Goretzka has publicly announced that he will leave Bayern Munich at the end of the season: the experienced midfielder is ready for a new experience after 8 years in Bavaria and there are many clubs on his tracks. It is not often that you get the opportunity to sign a champion of his caliber for free, which is why there are many who want him on their team.
According to the latest rumors, AC Milan is reportedly planning new talks with Leon Goretzka’s prosecutors.
The Rossoneri have already had some exploratory contacts in the winter but sporting director Igli Tare wants to look into the matter more deeply. Next season Milan will most likely play a European competition and Massimiliano Allegri wants to lengthen the squad with experienced elements.
There is, however, one major obstacle on the road that could bring Leon Goretzka to Milan: the champion’s salary. He currently receives 13 million euros annually excluding bonuses, a figure well above Milan’s means: the Rossoneri management does not seem willing to make exceptions and Goretzka will have to make a big sacrifice if he chooses to wear the shirt of the 7-time European champion club. Juventus had also gathered some information but the executives then decided not to look into it, quite different is the talk of Atletico Madrid.
The Spanish club’s sporting director has already been to Munich to talk to Leon Goretzka’s representatives and told them about the club’s future plans. Also to be taken into consideration is the Manchester United hypothesis, looking for an experienced midfield profile after Casemiro’s farewell announced in recent days. The Turkey option cannot also be ruled out: Fenerbahce, Galatasaray and Besiktas would have liked to sign him as early as January to get ahead of the competition but Goretzka has decided to end his season at Bayern Munich.
According to Lothar Matthäus, Goretzka’s ideal replacement is Xaver Schlager, who could leave Leipzig for free in the summer since his contract is expiring. “Schlager is a player with a great mentality and very good defensively. He brings something that Kimmich, Pavlovic and Bischof do not have” he told Sport Bild.
