Memorable feat by Francesca Lollobrigida at the 2026 Milan Cortina Olympics. The speed skater, after winning the 3,000 meters a few days ago, also won the gold medal in the 5,000 meters final, signing a historic feat for Italy. L’Azzurra won with a time of 6’46″17, finishing ahead of the Dutch Merel Conijn and Norway’s Ragne Wiklund.

Francesca enters the history of this discipline: only a handful of athletes have managed in the past to achieve the 3000-5000 meter double in a single edition of the Olympics. It’s also the sixth Olympic gold for Italy, which is confirmed in second place with 15 medals (6 golds, 2 silvers and 7 bronzes): a sensational edition so far for the Italian team.
