The news had been circulating for a few days, but now official confirmation has arrived: Igor Tudor is the new coach of the Tottenham Hotspur. The Croatian coach, 47, takes over from Thomas Frank, who was relieved of his duties on Wednesday, Feb. 11, after eight disappointing months at the helm of Spurs.

Tudor will be tasked with turning around a struggling team: Tottenham currently occupies 16th place in Premier League and is only five points away from the relegation zone. The Croatian coach signed a contract valid until June 30, 2026. On social media, the London club greeted the new coach with a simple but warm, “Welcome Igor.”

Tudor’s debut will be immediately high-strung: the North London derby against the leading Arsenal, at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. “It is an honor to join this club at such a delicate time – Tudor’s first words -I am fully aware of the responsibility that has been entrusted to me. My goal is to give continuity to our performances and face each match with determination. The team has great quality: my task will be to organize resources to the best of my ability, transmit energy and quickly improve results”.

Saturday evening, meanwhile, the green rectangle of San Siro, refurbished after the inauguration of the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina, will be the scene of the highly anticipated derby d’Italia that will pit Inter against a Juventus side in need of points to win the place in the standings needed to be able to participate in the 2026-27 Champions League: the challenge within the challenge is that between Cristian Chivu and Luciano Spalletti, two who know each other very well, thanks to their common experience at Roma, and who esteem each other.

Between the two teams there is a 12-point gap, not even the most optimistic Bianconeri fans still hope the Scudetto can come (also because Milan, Napoli and Roma, which has the same points as the Old Lady, are also in the way) but in their eyes there is still the rocambolic first leg match, which ended 4-3 for the team then coached by Igor Tudor and was decided by a missile fired by Vasilije Adzic toward the goal defended by Yann Sommer, who was then also widely criticized for failing to oppose the young Montenegrin midfielder’s conclusion.
