La Liga 2025-2026: Girona-Barcelona, the likely lineups.

Monday night’s postponement in La Liga gives us a very delicate Catalan derby. At the Montilivi comes a wounded Barcelona that desperately needs to find itself. The 4-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the cup still stings and is likely to weigh heavily on the minds of Flick’s boys. Not least because Real Madrid, in the last period, has put itself back in the game. The Blaugrana cannot afford any more missteps if they want to stay in the title race. On the other side, however, is a Girona that is having a very complicated season. Míchel’s team has slipped into the lower reaches of the standings and, with only two points collected in the last three games, is starting to feel the pressure from their pursuers. The draw with Sevilla served to keep six points ahead of the relegation zone, but now they need to shake up a so far unexciting season
Míchel will not change the way he plays, even against Barcelona. In front of Gazzaniga, the defense will be entrusted to Daley Blind’s experience, crucial in getting the action going. In the middle of the field, it will fall to Witsel and Iván Martín to close any space for the Blaugrana. Up front, on the other hand, the main danger remains Tsygankov, ready to invent for Vanat’s only point.
Flick responds with the heavy trident. Joan García is confirmed between the posts, while the defense will be led by youngsters Cubarsí and Eric García. In midfield, De Jong’s experience and physicality will be crucial to trigger the talent of Lamine Yamal, who is ready to support Lewandowski in the role of first forward.
