Xabi Alonso turned down a club, waits for big comeback

After his exoneration at the beginning of January, Xabi Alonso has been approached by various clubs: especially Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham and Manchester City have been mentioned. According to reports in Spanish newspapers, in recent days the coach has been approached by Olympique Marseille to lead the team following the French club&#8217s separation from Roberto De Zerbi. Manchester City also seems to have realized this and has eliminated Xabi Alonso from the list of possible replacements for Pep Guardiola. According to English sources, the Catalan coach at the end of the season will leave the bench and the former Real Madrid man was on the list of candidates to take his place (there had also been talk of Vincent Kompany, a very difficult hypothesis) but now the Citizens are leaning more toward Enzo Maresca, torpedoed by Chelsea at the beginning of the year.
