To be in top form at all times, no detail should be overlooked, and Johannes Høsflot Klæbo knows it well: the Olympic king made a pact with his girlfriend, Pernille Dosvik, before starting the Milan Cortina adventure. “My girlfriend and I have been in quarantine since December, we kissed for the first time after the gold medal in the 50 kilometers” revealed the champion to NRK.

“I must say it was very nice, we both had been waiting for it for a long time but we did well. I couldn&#8217t afford to get sick, that&#8217s why we were forced not to kiss for months. I had a beautiful Olympics but I can&#8217t wait to get back to normal” said the king of Milan Cortina.

The 1996-born Norwegian champion at the Winter Olympics in Milan Cortina further embellished his palmarès by winning 6 gold medals (the most titles ever won in a single edition of the winter event): 10 kilometers, 50 kilometers, sprint, skiathlon, team sprint and relay. In the Pyeongchang 2018 edition there were 3 golds taken home (sprint, team sprint and relay), in Beijing 2 (sprint and team sprint).

With 11 gold medals, he is now the second most decorated Olympic athlete both winter and summer behind U.S. swimmer Michael Phelps, who tops the list with an incredible total of 23 golds.

Saturday, February 21, was undoubtedly the best day, with Klæbo crossing the finish line of the 50-kilometer classic technique race in an all-Norwegian podium. The Scandinavian phenom started out competing as a sprinter, but his medal haul at Milan Cortina 2026 is the result of work over the past four years to go the distance.
