Alex Sandro has won over Juventus. After an up-and-down start to the championship, the Brazilian flanker has gradually climbed Massimiliano Allegri’s hierarchies to become an important pawn for the Bianconeri lineup.
The former Porto man granted an interview to Globoesporte and spoke in enthusiastic tones about his adventure in the shadow of the Mole: “Juve is a great club and I am happy that they believed in me. Moreover, I like living in Turin, I have been welcomed here with open arms.”
The defender was impressed by the characteristic mentality of Juventus: “What immediately struck me positively was the winning mentality. Here it is as if you are implanted with a chip as soon as you arrive. You immediately understand that you always play to win.”
The Bianconeri put a forgettable first half of the season behind them, redeeming themselves greatly in the second half: “At Juve there is great communication and a very united environment. From teammates to the coach and staff, they all helped me fit in quickly. We talk to each other a lot and there is constant confrontation, which is fundamental for growing. Today we are a different group than six months ago, we know each other better, both on and off the field. And I,” he added, “feel I am growing day by day, not only as a player but also as a man.”
The fullback will be involved with Brazil in upcoming matches against Uruguay and Paraguay and will reunite with Neymar, his teammate at Santos: “I always cheer for Neymar and I am happy that he is triumphing in Barcelona. Many said he would flop in Europe, instead he is proving to be an exceptional player,” he continued, placing two of his teammates at Juve on the same level as his compatriot phenomenon. Dybala and Pogba are two outstanding players. They could play for any team in the world and can easily get to fight for the Ballon d’Or.”
With just a few days to go before their Champions League engagement against Bayern Munich, the Juventus man boosted his team’s chances: “We are charged up and will be even more determined than in the first leg. We are going there to win and we will prove it because we have experienced, world-class players with a winning mentality.”
