Crespi reveals what drove him

A relaunch, in some ways a new beginning, a step that well exemplifies Aquila Basket’s desire to continue to invest in and grow its Dolomiti Energia Basketball Academy: new Academy director Marco Crespi was introduced today in the Meeting Room of the HCL headquarters on Via Adalberto Libera, the new beating heart of Trentino basketball.

The former coach of the Italian women’s national team explained his motivations in accepting the position: “That of coming to Trento for me was first of all a life choice: I fell in love with the city in the month I experienced it in 2017 as a TV commentator during the Scudetto Finals: and in Aquila Basket I immediately perceived something different, an atmosphere and a way of working and living basketball that was different from that of the Italian basketball system I had known up to that moment. Now we begin an exciting journey: we would like that in the future every player who grew up in the youth sector of Aquila Basket and passed through the Academy clubs, having concluded his path can be identified for his way of playing, of being on the court, but also for the desire to get involved and grow, not are in basketball. As an Academy we want to be a driving force, a reference: first, however, it will be essential to listen, understand and value the many differences and different ways of experiencing basketball and working as a club in the territory. The goal is to grow the number of practitioners and fans of the sport: we will try to do this by working with humility and vision.”
