In the first free practice session at Silverstone little action on the track and times that are not very indicative.

Bad weather holds sway in the first free practice of the British Grand Prix. At Silverstone the first part of the session is characterized by rain, and there is little action on the track. The times are little indicative but see in any case surprisingly the Alfa Romeo driver Valtteri Bottas ahead of everyone with a time of 1’42″249.

Second time for host Lewis Hamilton in a Mercedes, then the two Ferraris of Carlos Sainz (who fitted the third turbo and third motogenerators) and Charles Leclerc. Lagging behind are the Red Bulls with Perez 12th, while Max Verstappen lapped very little and is last. The second session will be more indicative, especially for the Austrian stable, which took to the track with updates.
