Varese basketball, new coach comes from NBA

Matt Brase is the new head coach of the red-and-whites

Matt Brase is the new coach of Varese Basketball. This was officially announced by the Lombard club on Tuesday through its official channels. Brase comes to his first experience in Italy after also serving as an assistant coach in the NBA, at the Houston Rockets and Portland Trail Blazers.

“I am honored to have been named coach of Varese Basketball and to become part of the great tradition of this club,” Brase said. “I am excited to be alongside Luis Scola and Michael Arcieri and to work respecting the vision they have for this historic club.

Also pleased is Michael Arcieri, general manager of the red and white club: “It is with great enthusiasm that we announce Matt Brase as our new coach. Matt combines a number of characteristics that make him the ideal coach for our team: technical excellence and innovation, experience in player development, and the ability to build direct relationships with players and staff. I am delighted to welcome him to our family and to have him leading our team for a bright future.”
