Mattia Binotto responds to Carlos Sainz
At the end of the Austrian Grand Prix Mattia Binotto wanted to respond to Carlos Sainz: “The one-two was within reach, it’s a pity we didn’t succeed. For sure we have to improve on reliability, we need effective solutions. We have always been able to solve problems; they are not solutions that can be found in ten days but we will get there. The base is also good for the coming seasons and that is important.”
“I think there are many positive things today besides the victory,” he continued, “Good for Leclerc, it was important for him. Two wins in a row for Ferrari on two different tracks, it gives us hope for the future. We worked well on race pace, tire wear and with pit stops.”
The superiority over Red Bull was glaring: “We did not expect this. In yesterday’s Sprint Race we had the feeling that we had something more, but not so much. The drivers studied to figure out how to exploit the tires even better. Leclerc understood to put pressure from the beginning, and that meant he then had to force the tires. Good analysis work was done.”
