Tour de France, Pinot fantozziano: shot at refueling
Pinot starring in bizarre episode during the eighth stage of the Tour
Thibaut Pinot was the protagonist of a bizarre episode during the eighth stage of the Tour de France: the Groupama-FDJ cyclist, who had already fallen in the first kilometers of the stage, was hit in the face by a Trek-Segafredo refueling assistant during a refreshment stop.
The transalpine rider was hit in the face by the attendant’s arm, and in the body by the bag of food: the impact was tragicomic and almost Fantozzi-like, but also very painful, since the bag contained heavy cans. “I hope to have better days,” Pinot admitted, “I couldn’t avoid the impact, I ran into the person in front of me and got punched in the face. It was a bad day from start to finish,” his words at the end of the stage.
