F1: Mick Schumacher, “Ferrari anxious”
Haas team manager Steiner: “At Ferrari, they are pushing for Mick Schumacher’s renewal, but we will move forward at our own pace.”
The last two Formula 1 races seem to have permanently unlocked Mick Schumacher, who after a season and a half without points managed to take an eighth place in Silverstone and a sixth in Austria, even allowing himself to wrestle with Lewis Hamilton for much of the Grand Prix.
At Ferrari they are pressing Haas for the German driver’s renewal so as not to lose him next season to a rival team: “I won’t hide it, some people in Ferrari are anxious for discussions to start. But we will go ahead according to our own pace, not because people are asking for it. In Haas we never talk about renewals before the summer break,” are the words of team manager Gunther Steiner to Nextgen-Auto.com.
On Schumacher: “I think he has even more potential, and it’s part of the game that things sometimes get difficult when you try to find out. His last name has a long history in F1. But it can also become a handicap if things don’t go well.”
