Goalkeeper swap between Monza and Pescara
Monza’s seventh new summer purchase.
From Pescara comes Alessandro Sorrentino, who signed a contract with the biancorossi until June 30, 2027.
Born April 3, 2002 in Guardiagrele (Ch), the young goalkeeper from Abruzzo took his first steps in Lanciano, before being noticed by Pescara, where he landed at the age of 15 in the summer of 2017.
In the 2020-21 season he won the Primavera 2 championship, putting himself in the spotlight with a series of great games.
At 19, Sorrentino is ready for his first-team debut, which comes in the Coppa Italia against Grosseto on Sept. 15, 2021, and then in Serie C at Virtus Entella on Oct. 11. It only took him a couple of games to become an immovable starter for Auteri’s Pescara.
He closed his first season in the professional ranks with 29 appearances in Serie C and a performance that was also noticed by national team coach Roberto Mancini, who summoned him for the internship at the end of May in Coverciano.
Instead, Daniele Sommariva and Luca Lombardi move permanently to Pescara.
Arrived at Monza in the summer of 2018, the Ligurian goalkeeper was a key player in the group that achieved double promotion from Serie C to Serie A, collecting 14 appearances in the biancorossa jersey.
Monza’s first purchase of 2020, the young midfielder from Marche took part in the Biancorossi’s return to Serie B in June 2020 and made his professional debut in the Pordenone-Monza Coppa Italia match on October 27, 2020.
