Cagliari, the Conti dynasty closes for good
Bruno Conti, son of Daniele and grandson of the world champion at Spain ’82, moves to Hellas Verona on a permanent basis.
“Cagliari Calcio announces the transfer to Hellas Verona of the footballer Bruno Conti, who is transferring outright. Raised in the Rossoblù youth academy, he collected 59 appearances with the Primavera team and 5 goals, contributing to reaching the Scudetto semifinal in the championship just past. Class of 2002, he has played 3 matches with the National Under 16 Italian team.” With this note, the island club made official the transfer of Andrea Conti’s son – the latter already the absolute recordman of appearances with the Cagliari jersey with 464 total tokens – as well as nephew of the great Bruno, who passes to the Scaliger club on a permanent basis.
After the resignation of Daniele himself, who until July 11 occupied the role of coordinator of the technical staff of the Under-17 and Primavera teams, the youngest of the Conti dynasty also leaves the Rossoblu club, which in the season now approaching will be engaged in the difficult chase for promotion to Serie A.
Like Serie A, the start of Serie B is set for the weekend of August 12-14, a rather early start due to the unprecedented “winter” World Cup that will be staged in Qatar from November 21 to December 18, 2022. However, if during this period the Serie A will stop, it will not be the same for the Serie Cadetta, which will continue on a regular basis, forcing clubs with players called up for the World Cup to have to forgo it for a few days.
