Gerhard Berger for now does not bet on Charles Leclerc

The words of Gerhard Berger

Gerhard Berger at the F1 Nation podcast had his say on the title race: “I think Max Verstappen is even better than last year. Also because I think winning a championship takes a lot of pressure off you. Leclerc, on the other hand, has made one or two mistakes this season, which should not happen if you are a serious title candidate. I think of the mistake at Imola at the chicane, where he could have finished third and brought home important points (he later finished sixth, ed.). In these areas Leclerc needs more experience, but I think in general he absolutely has all the qualities to become champion.”

“Leclerc has impressed me at the level of dry lap speed in qualifying. He is doing very well. But overall in the race, I see an advantage of Max. I find him brilliant in the whole race management, he maximizes every chance. In overtaking he is very strong, in wheel-to-wheel battles and in reading the race. And if you add that to the strategies of the Red Bull team, which are very good, and their pit stops, in my opinion they are a package that is very close to unbeatable.”
