Young Ukrainian hopeful starts again in Valsugana

The talented Ukrainian XCO champion will be at the start of Valsugana Wild Ride next Saturday, July 30, 2022. “I was enchanted by the landscapes of Valsugana that’s why I decided to race here again after the injury,” Sukhopalova’s words.

Valsugana Wild Ride is ready to open a door to the future of mountain biking. At the starting line in Telve on Saturday, July 30, 2022, will be Mariia Sukhopalova, one of the most talented bikers on the international scene. At just turned 18, the Ukrainian athlete is one of the promising up-and-comers on the Cross Country scene, but when she can she does not fail to try her hand at longer distances, as she will do in Valsugana.

Although very young, Sukhopalova has already shown that she has important qualities, going on to win the Ukrainian Cross Country Eliminator championship ahead of Iryna Popova. In this second season among juniors, the Ukrainian athlete has confirmed her qualities, already winning three times in 2022 although at the European Championships in Anadia (Portugal) she was blocked by an injury on her way to winning the European champion’s jersey.

“I have recently returned to cycling after my injury and I return to Valsugana Wild Ride with the hope that my knee will respond well during the race,” Mariia Sukhopalova explains. “I chose this race because looking at the photos of the past years I was enchanted and I am happy to start my season again from here. It will be my first time at this event, so I am looking forward to it. I hope to see the same incredible landscapes that I admired in the pictures of past editions.”

Valsugana Wild Ride, with its two routes (Marathon from 62.3 km and 2,950 m of elevation gain and Classic from 31.8 km and 1,280m of elevation gain) is the perfect synthesis of an event able to combine a competitive soul with the objective of showing the natural beauty of the territory to a wide audience of fans. With this in mind, alongside the two races, Valsugana Wild Ride will also propose the “Fun#38;Ride,” a non-competitive ride open to all, to enjoy the territory without hurry.
