F1, Lewis Hamilton can’t be like George Russell
Seventh on the grid, teammate in pole.
In qualifying for the Hungarian GP came the first real joy of 2022 for Mercedes. The pole position made, however, not by the champion Lewis Hamilton, but by young George Russell.
The seven-time world champion will start seventh and had some difficulties in Q3: “I had a problem with the DRS not working. I’m far from satisfied, as I’m seventh in the end,” said Hamilton. “It will be really difficult tomorrow, because it’s hard to overtake here. But when the will is there, you always find a way to be able to make a comeback and I will try to do that.”
Hamilton cannot cheer, but he is still happy for Russell: “Absolutely, it’s his first pole. It’s a great result and it’s great for the team,” he added. “It’s been a long time since we’ve had a pole. It’s a surprise to everyone, but he certainly deserved it.”
