Cycling, Olympic champion changes team: goal unveiled
“I want to try to win the Tour de France.”
“We are proud to announce that Richard Carapaz will join the team in 2023. The most accomplished cyclist Ecuador has ever produced, he has been on the podium in every Grand Tour, won the Giro, won the Olympic road race, and is just beginning his career. We can’t wait to see what lies ahead.” With this official statement, EF Education-Easy Post announced the Ecuadorian rider’s joining the team. Carapaz thus leaves Ineos-Grenadiers to join the U.S. team.
“This is a team with many ambitions and many goals to achieve,” commented Carapaz. “I am an element that can fit very well into this team. I am motivated and was looking for a team with the same goals as me. I am focused and want to try to win the Tour de France. I think this is a goal we can achieve together. The team wants to achieve its goals; having a team like this, which wants to win a big tour like me, is very important. We’re going to have to work hard for it, because it’s something that takes a lot of work, a lot of dedication, and that’s something that this team doesn’t lack. I am motivated to join the team to fight for this dream-we will do everything we can together,” he concluded.
