Jannik Sinner downsized? Paolo Bertolucci’s dry reaction after the knockout
Paolo Bertolucci responds to those who criticize Jannik Sinner
Paolo Bertolucci on Twitter responded dryly to those who are criticizing Jannik Sinner these days after his two most recent eliminations in the round of 16 in Canada and Cincinnati. The Italian is behind in the Race to the Finals in Turin and was hoping to catch up on his favorite surface, but so far in North America he has disappointed.
On social media, several fans and pundits are downplaying the potential of the South Tyrolean, judging him to be a very good player but not capable of reaching outclass levels. Former Italian tennis player Bertolucci disagrees and responded by sharing a post that quotes some statistics of many champions at Sinner’s age (21).
“Read carefully,” Bertolucci wrote. “For those who say Jannik Sinner can’t get any better: others at age 21,” the post read. Federer: 3-6 in finals, best rank #8, Medvedev: 0-1 , BR #60, Zverev: 6-4, BR #3, Tsitsipas: 3-4, BR #7, Rublev: 1-1, BR #31, Ruud: 0-1, BR #54. Sinner: 6-1, BR #9. Is it really that bad?”
