Enea Bastianini: “I was in control, I had the pace for the victory…”

Team Ducati Gresini centaur Enea Bastianini spoke after the Austrian Grand Prix closed in the early laps with a retirement: “I was in control, I had the pace for the podium or for the win, I was managing the situation then Martin came and started to attack me. He definitely didn’t want to be a team player, he wanted to do his race. I had passed him again, but then precisely he continued with the attacks and unfortunately in a pass on the curb in Turn-9 I broke the rim.”

The Rimini rider’s bitter attack on the Spanish rider is not coincidental: in a few days Ducati will decide who to entrust the official bike to in 2023. “All the times I was in a fight with Martin this year I came out on top. Then I don’t want to take anything away from Martin, who is a very fast rider.”
