Marcell Jacobs, new injury: recovery times
Marcell Jacobs had been forced out of the 4×100 at the European Championships in Munich.
Olympic and European champion Marcell Jacobs underwent medical examinations Tuesday morning at the Institute of Sports Medicine in Rome to determine the extent of the injury he suffered at the European Championships in Munich, when he was forced to forfeit the 4×100 relay.
For him, nothing particularly serious: tests showed a state of structural overload, with reduced edema, in the left calf. The athlete will rest for about a week, then proceed to new tests. However, Jacobs could return to competition in 2023, skipping the season finale to recover 100 percent.
This is the note from Fidal: “The diagnostic tests to which 100-meter Olympian Marcell Jacobs underwent this morning in Rome at the Institute of Sports Medicine showed a state of structural overload, with reduced edema, at the left gastrocnemius. He will have to observe seven days of rest and therapy; at the end of this period, new examinations will be carried out.”
