F1, Ferrari in the storm but Carlos Sainz won’t stand for it: the complaint at home
More criticism, but those who take to the track for the Cavallino now raise their voices.
Ferrari in pole position at the Belgian Grand Prix, but although Carlos Sainz will start ahead of everyone at Spa once again Ferrari has ended up in the eye of the storm for the strategy adopted during qualifying (in particular for the tires fitted to Charles Leclerc). The pole position, however, remains, and this is precisely what the man who won it wanted to dwell on while talking to journalists in his country.
Indeed, Sainz complained to ‘As’ that if he is in pole position he owes it also to Leclerc’s wake, while the general attention is focused on something else. “You have to point out these things too, when they criticize us as a team. Because sometimes when we do things right, there is no one to say it,” thundered the Spanish Ferrari driver.
“At Spa we worked very well as a team, and it’s because of this that I will start in the front. I would love for someone to notice and write it down,” added Sainz. However, who added that winning the Belgian Grand Prix will not be easy: “Up to turn 5 (the chicane after Eau Rouge, Raidillon and the Kemmel straight, ed.) we will be in full throttle, and in these conditions Red Bull is very strong. I am very happy with the pole, but it will be very difficult to keep Perez behind. We hope to be faster in the race than in qualifying, and the heat might help us.”
