Carlos Alcaraz fierce on Jannik Sinner: “I’ll do anything.”
Carlos Alcaraz could soon become world number one: “Now I only think about Sinner.”
Carlos Alcaraz has only one fixed thought after his victory over Cilic in the round of 16 at the Us Open: beating Jannik Sinner. “It’s good that he defeated me in the last two matches. I am a very competitive guy and I want to show what I am capable of. I have a desire to win and I will give everything.”
The Spaniard has a chance to become world number one at just 19: “I don’t think about it, or rather I try not to think about it. I still see it quite far away, still having to win two or three matches. Right now I only think about the match against Sinner.”
On the hard-fought match with Cilic: “I had never played tennis until so late, it was a spectacular feeling. The crowd support was crucial, they gave me the energy I needed to win. This match shows me that I can compete at my highest level for over four hours. I was strong physically, mentally and tennis-wise.”
