US Open, Carlos Alcaraz congratulates Jannik Sinner
The Spaniard is on track to become the world’s new No. 1
At the end of an epic match that lasted a full 5 hours and 15′, Alcaraz got the better of Sinner (who wasted a match point in the fourth set). The Spaniard thus flies to the semifinals where he will face Tiafoe, fresh winner of the challenge with Rublev and Nadal’s executioner.
Alcaraz, at the end of the match with the Italian, had honeyed words for his opponent: “I really don’t know how he managed to win. I played a very high level of tennis. Jannik is a great player, you all saw that. He is an incredible player. I have to thank the audience. If I do these things it is because they are there to support me and give me strength,” the words of the Spaniard who is increasingly in the running to become the new No. 1 in the world.
