The rivalry between Jannik Sinner and Carlos Alcaraz has also bewitched Juan Martin Del Potro: even for the Argentine tennis player at the Us Open we saw the first flashes of a future rivalry between the two.
“They could be the Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer of this generation,” Del Potro assured ESPN. “I’m fascinated by the level of these two guys. This could really become the rivalry that will characterize the next few years.” Alcaraz, who won after five hard-fought sets in a match that lasted more than five hours, will soon play the first Slam of his career against Casper Ruud.
