Charles Marc Hervé Perceval Leclerc, this is his full name, was born in Monaco on October 16, 1997. He is the third driver from the Principality to have participated in the Formula 1 World Championship after Louis Chiron and Olivier Beretta, as well as the youngest ever to have won a Grand Prix driving a Ferrari single-seater. In March 2016, the Maranello-based company confirmed that Charles would be one of two new drivers included in the Ferrari Driver Academy and would become a test driver for Haas and Ferrari itself. In the role of test driver, he participated in the first free practice session of the British Grand Prix that year driving the U.S. team’s single-seater. On May 9, 2016, he tested the Ferrari F14 T at the Fiorano circuit, grinding out the 300 kilometers required to obtain the FIA Superlicense
