Great performance by Vittoria Guazzini in the elite time trial race (34.2 km, same distance as the men) at the Australian World Championships in Wollongong. The 21-year-old Italian finished in fourth place overall (victory to Dutch Ellen van Dijk, her second consecutive triumph).

However, the talented Vittoria Guazzini took home the historic first jersey in the Under-23 women’s category. A title strongly desired by the UCI, it guarantees the 21-year-old Italian the gold medal in the Under 23 category (there were 11 Under 23s at the start of the race).
