Turin, Italy, a final farewell to Pier Luigi Gabetto

Pier Luigi Gabetto, son of Grande Torino center forward Guglielmo Gabetto, has passed away. The Granata club wished to express its condolences through a brief but moving official note posted on its website.

“President Urbano Cairo and the entire Torino Football Club are close with affection to the Gabetto family on the passing of Pier Luigi Gabetto, son of the unforgettable champion of Grande Torino, Guglielmo Gabetto, and former Head of the Youth Sector of Toro. To his children Giulia and Guglielmo, his brother Sergio, all relatives and many friends the affectionate embrace of the Granata world,” it reads.

Pier Luigi Gabetto founded the Torino soccer school, which he named after him, and then became head of Torino’s youth sector in 1994. With him at the helm of the nursery and with Claudio Sala on the bench, Torino Primavera won the 1998 Viareggio Tournament.
