Sassuolo knocks out Salernitana, Samp down: Monza corsair
Important points for the salvation zone and beyond.
One home win, one away win and one draw came in the three matches that Serie A saw played on Sunday afternoon. Monza returned to winning ways, on the field do an increasingly struggling Sampdoria in the standings, and Lecce and Cremonese drew at the Via del Mare stadium. Also important, however, is the very clear victory over Salernitana by a Sassuolo side that pins Inter on 12 points.
The neroverdi imposed themselves with a very clear 5-0 at the Mapei Stadium, securing the result already in the first half. In the 12th minute it was Laurentié who took advantage of Thorstvedt’s assist by unblocking with a dish, and in the 39th minute Pinamonti doubled on a penalty kick (Lovato’s foul on Ceide). In the second half it was Thorstvedt (on a splendid service from Alvarez), Harroui and Antiste as time expired to set the final score.
In Genoa, however, the first to get on the board was Matteo Pessina: the Monza captain scored on a tap-in in the 11th minute on a wraparound action by the Brianzoli and Ciurria’s final bank. In the 67th minute Caprari doubles instead with a great conclusion from the distance, while in full recovery it is Sensi who finally sinks Sampdoria: it ends 0-3. Blucerchiati last in the standings together with Cremonese, who hope for victory thanks to Ciofani (scoring from the penalty spot in the 19th minute). Lecce, however, finds the 1-1 goal in the 42′ thanks to another penalty, this time converted by Strefezza.
