F1, Carlos Sainz sets goal for season finale
“Suzuka could be a good chance to win,” said the Ferrari driver.
Carlos Sainz, Spanish driver in his second year at Ferrari, as reported by Marca.com, made statements upon his arrival in Japan.
At first Sainz expressed his feelings about Japan, between the environment and the circuit: “I’ve already had a couple of fun encounters with Japanese fans and I’m ready to have fun at one of the circuits I love, I adore, the old-school ones, as I call them. All the drivers’ faces light up because the laps here are much more special than anywhere else. Everyone talks about the ‘esses’ in the first sector, but I like the whole circuit in general. It’s the variety of the corners, the narrowness of the track, the difficult exits, the different types of asphalt…. The whole circuit is well done, from the hairpin that breaks the rhythm after the first sector to the 130R and the final chicane with its curbs. It has everything and that’s why I love it.”
“I think I am in a good moment, where I have finished several races in a row and it is true that there have been ups and downs in performance, but in the last two races we have improved and I think we are a bit closer to Red Bull than we were at Spa or Zandvoort and the goal now is to win again as a team. We want to get back to winning a race before the end of the season, to have perfect weekends, which will be useful for us in the future,” he added.
Finally, he concluded by talking about the fight with Red Bull: “We have a good car on all circuits and we have to be better than them in every aspect if we want to beat them. We haven’t won in a long time, but Suzuka could be a good chance to do so and we will try.”
