F1, Japan GP: Charles Leclerc chews bitter but does not give up
“There is a good feeling with the car.”
At the end of the official practice session at the Suzuka track in Japan, Charles Leclerc cashed in with some bitterness on second place on the grid. In fact, Max Verstappen was only 10 thousandths ahead of him in the time classification.
In the hot statements after the outcome of the dispute – on which hangs a possible intervention of the Race Direction against the Dutch driver – the Monegasque did not hide a bit of disappointment, however, showing confidence ahead of the race.
“The lap was complicated because here if you go fast in the first sector then you pay for it a bit in the second part. I tried to find a balance, but I lost the tires a little bit in the last sector. It’s too bad because we got really close to Max. We did very few laps ahead of the race, but there is a good feeling with the car. We’ll see the weather conditions, but it will be fun. We hope for a good show for the fans,” he concluded.
