Lewis Hamilton has congratulated Red Bull and Max Verstappen on winning the world title

Mercedes driver Lewis Hamilton after the race in Japan congratulated Red Bull and Max Verstappen on winning the drivers’ title: “I think Red Bull did a fantastic job this year obviously with the car, so congratulations to the whole team and Max,” is the seven-time world champion’s pithy compliment.

Hamilton, who finished fifth in Japan, reiterated his confidence in Mercedes: “We know what the problems are with this car. I think we have not gone from being world champions to not being able to build a good car. I have no doubt that we will have a better car next year, we will solve every problem we find out when we get there,” the words picked up by gpblog.
