F1, mockery for Pierre Gasly: penalized after tractor risk
Pierre Gasly punished by marshals for high speed under red flag
FIA decisions continue to cause controversy: the Federation has decided to penalize Pierre Gasly by 20 seconds and 2 points on his superlicense for high speed during the red flag regime in the early laps of the Japanese Grand Prix, which was initially interrupted due to poor visibility on the track.
A penalty that smacks of mockery for the Alpha Tauri driver, who on team radio and then in front of the microphones had lashed out harshly at race officials and the Federation for the tractor that entered the track with the single-seaters still on the track. Gasly had also evoked the death of Jules Bianchi.
In the statement, the Federation explained that Gasly was guilty of driving at speeds that “exceeded 200 km/h on several occasions and reached 251 km/h at one point.”
