Roger Federer: after retirement a new promise to fans
A new promise to his many fans.
Just over two weeks after retiring from tennis following his participation in the Laver Cup, Roger Federer is back talking about himself, his career, and his future. And in an interview for the ATP website, he not only reveals one of the many secrets of his competitive longevity, but also one of his resolutions for the times ahead.
“My fans have aged along with me, so I consider this the ideal time to thank them all. Without their support, never would I have been able to give myself all these emotions. Sharing all our interactions with them will be sorely missed. But we will see each other again,” Federer announced.
“I have always loved traveling the whole world and playing tennis. And in my letter I was clear, this is not a farewell,” Federer then explained. “I don’t intend to walk away from tennis, and it was important for me to be clear about that. So fans will still be able to see me around the various tournaments, although I will be there in a different role.”
