F1 Ferrari: new penalty coming to Austin
Ferrari in the U.S. is expected to mount the sixth engine in one of the single-seaters
Closed the World Drivers’ Championship with the triumph of Max Verstappen in Japan, Formula 1 enters the last part of the season: in Austin are expected upsets in the starting grid for the replacement of engines in the single-seaters of some teams, in particular Alpine and Ferrari.
The Maranello-based team already planned in the summer for the Texas race to replace the power unit of one of Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz. The new engine (the sixth) will cost the Spaniard or the Monegasque the relegation on the grid to the last position. Alpine is also expected to change the engine, at least as far as Fernando Alonso’s single-seater is concerned.
Ferrari, which has now also lost the constructors’ title, must defend its second place in the overall standings from Mercedes, while in the drivers’ standings Leclerc is dueling with Perez for second place.
